Reef Blocks · Falling block puzzle

Reef Blocks is the classic NES falling-block puzzle in a glass tank on the night sea floor: seven glowing jelly shapes sink one by one, fill a whole row to burst it into bubbles, and clear four rows at once with the long piece for a quad. Every ten lines the blocks fall faster; every third level a sea monster pushes stone rows up from the floor and your clears are what knock it away. Free to play online on phone or computer, no download.

How to play

  1. Use one finger anywhere on the screen: drag left or right to move the piece (it moves as far as your finger, so your finger never covers the tank), drag down to make it fall faster, tap to turn it, flick down to drop it straight to the floor and flick up to put it in the hold. On a computer: arrow keys move, Up or X turns, Z turns the other way, Space drops and C holds.
  2. Fill a whole row to clear it. Leave a one-wide gap and drop the long piece in to clear four rows at once (a quad) for the most points. The glowing outline at the bottom shows where the piece will land, and the tray at the top shows the next three pieces.
  3. Every ten lines is a new level: the pieces fall faster. Every third level is a sea monster: it pushes grey stone rows up from the floor, each with one gap in the same column, and every row you clear hits it.

FAQ

How do I score more?
Points are multiplied by the level. Quads score far more than single rows; a quad or a T spin straight after another is worth half again. Clear with every piece in a row for a combo, clear while the stack is above the red line for ×1.5, empty the whole tank for a big bonus, and beat each sea monster quickly.
When does the game end?
When a new piece has no room at the top of the tank. Leave part-way and you can carry on from the level you were on, with the tank as it was when that level began.
